Mosquito Squad Certified A World-Class Franchise

January 31st, 2012

LINCOLN, Neb. (January 31, 2012) – Mosquito Squad has received World-Class Franchise® certification from the Franchise Research Institute® and FranSurvey®.

The recognition comes after an independent survey conducted by the Franchise Research Institute, in which 75.6% of all Mosquito Squad franchisees participated. The survey was designed to determine the level of franchisee satisfaction within the Mosquito Squad franchise system.

“Using confidential surveys to understand franchisee opinions is vital to building a successful franchise brand,” said Jeff Johnson, founder and CEO of the Franchise Research Institute.  “Mosquito Squad relied upon our unbiased, third-party research to obtain honest feedback from their franchisees, in order to help maximize franchisee sales and profitability.

The survey asked Mosquito Squad franchise owners to rate their franchisor through a series of questions in categories such as overall growth potential, quality, support and communication.

Among the responses received from Mosquito Squad) franchisees:

  • 97% gave a positive grade to initial training.
  • 91% gave a positive grade to overall quality.
  • 91% of franchisees would recommend this franchise.
  • 95% gave a positive grade to their franchise business compared to the local competition.

“High scores from franchisees, when obtained confidentially, are evidence that a franchisor consistently meets or exceeds expectations. Mosquito Squad understands this concept and they work diligently to improve services they provide to their franchisees,” said Johnson.”

“Our corporate team is extremely dedicated to coaching and mentoring our franchisees as they build their local businesses to pursue their personal career, lifestyle, wealth and income goals,” said Christopher Grandpre, Chairman and CEO of Outdoor Living Brands. “We look forward to a successful year for all Mosquito Squad franchisees and to continuing to support the brand’s rapid growth across the country.  Most importantly, we look forward to working to ensure our clients can enjoy an outdoor living lifestyle – pest and disease free.”

Franchise Expo South a Forecasting Tool?

January 24th, 2012

After attending the Franchise Expo South in Miami last weekend, a couple of trends seemed to be prevalent.  If the Expo was an accurate forecasting tool, it would be safe to say that the future of franchising lies in frozen yogurt (with your choice of toppings), pizza, and early childhood education.  All run by veterans.

What is NOT new is the apparent (continued) prospects’ dependence on determining the quality of a franchise opportunity by the taste of the product or the pitch of the sales team.  What is also not new is my impassioned (also continued) insistence on the need for accurate, transparent measurements of franchisee satisfaction.  I maintain that this is a critical component of a prospect’s due diligence.  There were a small number of exhibitors which had undergone  this internal scrutiny, underscoring their franchisee-focused approach.  I applaud them, and raise my cup of frozen yogurt in their honor.

TOP 25 WORLD-CLASS FRANCHISES RECOGNIZED

January 20th, 2012

LINCOLN, Neb. (January 20, 2012) – The Franchise Research Institute has identified

25 World-Class Franchises for 2012, based upon independent, third-party research conducted with the companies’ franchisees.  In its tenth year of providing franchise research, the Institute contacts every franchisee, and guarantees their complete confidentiality.

The Institute identifies and recognizes excellence. Jeff Johnson, founder of The Franchise Research Institute/FranSurvey, states, “There are a number of ‘Best Franchise’ lists published each year, but we recognize excellence by asking current franchisees to rate their experience as franchise owners, using solid, scientific research methodology.” He adds that “The confidentiality of franchisee responses is critical, because franchisees are reluctant to say anything negative if they can be identified.  Confidentiality reduces bias and ‘false positive’ responses.”

Johnson concludes that World-Class franchises have a number of things in common;

  1. They establish realistic expectations with candidates and then consistently meet or exceed these expectations.
  2. They are very selective and only offer franchises to individuals that meet the “success profile” for their franchise.
  3. They successfully transfer “franchise owner knowledge” to new franchises.
  4. They provide ongoing training and support to existing franchisees.
  5. They communicate with consistent clarity, and include franchisees in major decisions.
  6. Their franchise offers an acceptable ROI for both the franchisor and the franchisee.

The companies recognized must receive high scores in areas such as opening support, communication between franchisor and franchisees, initial and ongoing training provided to franchisees, product/service quality, and a dedication to overall company excellence.

According to Johnson “A company can provide a terrific product or service which is well-received by the public, and franchisees can still fail.  World-Class franchising requires a focus on franchisee success which in turn supports the success of the brand”
